According to the book — Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman:-Our Autopilot Mode is called system 1 which is an unconscious way of thinking. It can be efficient but is more prone to bias and making mistakes.
System 2 is a conscious way of thinking which requires our effort and energy. It is used for our life decisions that involve our career, relationships etc.
Before delving into how we move out of our autopilot mode, decide whether you let it happen or you are just helpless. Increase the awareness of your actions. Being in an autopilot mode is a choice. Read this line until it gets embedded in your head.
So how do we get out of this mode?
Here is my take on it:
Get out of your comfort zone!! It is a doorway to your personal development, your growth, your New You. It’s simple: Don’t Complaint if you don’t try!
Challenge your system 1 Look for ways in which that particular activity/action/decision can be done in a different way. Why have a not so grateful experience again?
Have a compelling reason to do something. If your doctor says — You will die in 6 months if you don’t stop smoking. Will you smoke then?
You are the driver of your life. Don’t let life drive you!
