The understanding that you are appreciative of the position you are in but just want something more! Just not able to give meaning to the chaos that you are in.
If you get an X amount of money, you would then want 2X then 4X and then so on, but if you have X amount of food, it would be very difficult for you to have 2X, let alone 4X. This is because you will eat to only that extent which is content to you. It doesn’t matter how much more or less other people have.
The underlying root cause of not being satisfied is your habit of comparing your state to something or somebody else’s state. Getting a 30 LPA package may sound sweet to you but you will feel miserable if you’re comparing it with someone who has 80 LPA package.
Fulfillment comes from within and nothing external can make you feel satisfied. True happiness comes only from you and you only have the power to make yourself happy.
Therefore, dig deep and figure out what truly makes you happy.
If still you can’t help yourself comparing with others consider these 3 questions:
1) Will you live a satisfied and peaceful life if you try to become somebody you are not?
2) If you manage to accomplish the goals of somebody you’re not, then what next? Will you have a sense of accomplishment or success?
3) Will there be a limit to your growth if you compare yourself with your version of yesterday?
Lastly try contributing to other people’s lives. Psychological well-being is dependent a lot on compassionate behaviour and empathy. I guarantee you that you will feel much better when you have helped somebody in their journey of life.
